The Request:

As with most projects, this was very special in it’s own way. I was contacted by a pastor who was looking to commission a piece for a family within his congregation. The piece itself was a prayer written by one of the family’s sons, who’d tragically passed in an auto accident. He requested two copies – one for the family and one to hang in his office.

The Direction:

I’d asked the pastor for any details he could share of the author, what he liked to do, who he was and the nature of the prayer itself. Once I read the transcript I knew it had to reflect reverence and respect. Aside from the nature of the piece, I was challenged in producing two copies in a very short time frame.

The Design:

I followed the style of Italian whitevine. Knowing this to be an ambitious task, I chose to incorporate sparingly. Interwoven into the vines are both a book and a quill, to honor the authors love for reading and writing. Also, as he was a fan of Tolkien, Simbelmyne adorns the vine work throughout.
